EPISODE #70: Part 1 of Series – The Founding Principles of the Concealed Carry University
April 5, 2016
Duration: 25:01 | Size: 17.2 MB
Every organization has a reason for being, or a mission statement. The Concealed Carry University was founded on some basic but effective self-defense principles. Declaring those periodically reminds us all what we are doing and why it is critical that we continue on our course. Even more importantly, acknowledging what we care about regarding self-defense forces us to contrast our training with what our training SHOULD be.
EPISODE #69: A Casual Shooting Session Gone Awry and the Importance of Gear Selection
March 31, 2016
Duration: 24:03 | Size: 16.51 MB
It only takes one small oversight to derail our effectiveness and put us in a vulnerable self-defense situation. Diligence is the answer to this problem, and embracing that is one of the great challenges of concealed carry. Sometimes making a good decision in gear selection can act as a buffer when, despite our best efforts, we make a mistake.
EPISODE #68: Fear of Failure – A Concealed Carry Achilles Heel
March 23, 2016
Duration: 30:25 | Size: 20.87 MB
We have all been there before a big event: insomnia, night sweats, or even physical illness. If we don’t convince ourselves we are ready by preparing, fear of failure can run our lives. Concealed carry is a perfect feeding ground for fear, and it can only be kept at bay by developing real skill and knowing that skill will be there when we need it most.
EPISODE #67: The Forgotten Aspect of Situational Awareness
March 10, 2016
Duration: 33:19 | Size: 22 MB
Situational awareness is an innate skill, and the luxuries of modern society and the unnatural stimuli we are exposed to on a daily basis have changed the way we practice this skill – almost to the point of derailing it totally. Fortunately, we are resilient creatures and we can reacquire situational awareness skills by simply allowing reality to influence us instead of false reality.

This Broadcast highlights two important action-items for us armed Americans: (1) How Jeff Cooper’s color coded scale of situational awareness is often misinterpreted and misused; and (2) How even “living in Condition Yellow” is not much use to us unless we build the Expectation for Sudden Violence that we discuss within this episode.
EPISODE #66: Defend Ourselves Against Random Violence
March 1, 2016
Duration: 19:23 | Size: 13 MB
Violence that is truly random is the rarest sort of violence (usually, most violence that *appears* to be random is not random, at least in the mind of the attacker). But as a couple recent mass-shootings show us: it does happen.

Random violence devastates its victims and survivors more than any other type of violence, because it is totally irrational and unpredictable. We are blindsided by it because we don’t (and can barely) understand it. We tend to fear what we do not understand, and for good reason.
EPISODE #65: Call to Action for all Guardians
February 23, 2016
Duration: 13:17 | Size: 9 MB
Last week, we discussed the concept of carrying concealed as a DISCIPLINE – and how the human body and mind can be perfected through the act of carrying concealed *well* (carrying in as prepared, responsible, safe, and effective a manner possible).

This week, in one of the edgiest Guardian Broadcasts yet, Pat suggests that we take the role of being a responsibly armed Guardian even further. We discuss how this can and will transform our country — and we discuss how a LACK of folks accepting this challenge, as apparently issued by Ben Franklin, is a big part of the steep decline of modern America.
EPISODE #64: Controversial: The Concealed Carry Way
February 16, 2016
Duration: 13:10 | Size: 9 MB
Those who paint gun owners as paranoid and folks who carry concealed as “disturbed” would never acknowledge that the simple act of carrying a handgun has a profoundly positive impact on the human mental and emotional state. And yet, it does.
Welcome to the discipline of concealed carry – the path toward virtue through guardianship and warriorhood.
EPISODE #63: Avoiding One of the Biggest Mistakes You Can Make With Concealed Carry
February 9, 2016
Duration: 22:33 | Size: 15.4 MB
One of the most popular and prolific sayings in military, law enforcement, and even civilian sheepdog communities is simply: “Complacency kills.” Note the simplicity and profound wisdom of that statement. This applies to so many things, and ESPECIALLY to concealed carry. There is a simple psychological exercise you can use to avoid falling victim to this destroyer of lives, and I share that during this week’s broadcast.
EPISODE #62: FaceBook Prohibiting the Private Sale of Firearms
February 2, 2016
Duration: 20:42 | Size: 14.2 MB
This past week, FaceBook said it would prohibit, from here on out, the orchestration of private firearm sales on its website. Is this a big deal? Should we care?

That’s the subject of this week’s Guardian Broadcast.
EPISODE #61: The Journey of Self-Mastery and Knowing Yourself
January 26, 2016
Duration: 27:20 | Size: 18.8 MB
In this week’s Broadcast, I’m sharing with you a tool whose use and value transcends even the realm of Effective Self-Defense. It’s a tool that helps us accomplish a command given to us by wise men such as Socrates and Sun Tsu (Art of War): the command to know yourself… learn who you are and why you think and act the way you do.

Why is ‘knowing ourselves’ so important? In Sun Tsu’s words:

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles…. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

We’ve got to know our strengths and weaknesses. And we’ve got to learn how those are driving our decisions and actions. Then, we’ve got to seek to fine-tune our strengths, while correcting or insulating ourselves from our weaknesses. The tool that I’m sharing this week will help you do that!
