3 Second from NOW Volume Two:
The Fighting Principle of INTENSITY
  • Using gritty and unfiltered real-world violent footage, learn the #1 determining factor in whether you will survive a violent attack and how to make this incredible asymmetrical force an ally and gain the advantage in seconds.
  • Inoculate yourself to intensity and prevent the infamous freeze response.
  • Take advantage of lessons learned in pain for others by leveraging state-of-the-art “after action” gunfight review training technology.
  • See revolutionary force on force training used to put theory to the test and demonstrate strategic and tactical concepts.
INTENSITY, the fighting principle of, noun“the energy with which you deploy yourself and your deadly force in the face of a violent attack; That quality which Natural-Born Fighters are said to have, but one that must be learned and practiced by everyone else; the most decisive factor in whether or not your defensive effort is successful or fails.”
My dear friend: Please consider taking the educational journey I’ve laid out for you here in Volume 2.

If you’ve never been in a serious fight before, and if the whole idea of violence and aggression are mysterious, then I think you’re going to love (and perhaps need) this program.

This focused education and illustration of the concept of INTENSITY (and the pragmatic instruction on how to help you become INTENSE in your deployment and follow-through) is the best thing I’ve got for you.

INTENSITY is what shuts violence down, turns attackers around, and makes them bolt for the door. Ultimately: it’s what wins fights.

INTENSITY is the easily-actionable culmination of every complex model of violence and human conflict that I’ve studied and have come to understand intuitively: OODA Theory + Thermodynamics + Initiative + Momentum.

INTENSITY is almost literally “all you need to know.”

I am positive that you will love this program and that it will dramatically boost the confidence you have in yourself. – Pat

“More important than your caliber & capacity, your shooting accuracy,
and more important than the gun you carry…”
      From: Patrick Kilchermann
      Founder of Concealed Carry University
“Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum – If you Seek Peace, Prepare for War.”
My dear friends and fellow responsibly-armed Guardians, I have an exciting announcement for you: Volume 2 of my 3 SECONDS FROM NOW series is READY.

Volume 2 is extremely energetic and engaging, because this is where we get into the concepts and principles involved in gun-fighting itself – beginning with the most important one of all, and quite possibly the most cutting-edge and powerful concept that I have to offer the personal-protection industry: the concept of INTENSITY.

If you joined me for Volume 1, DECISIONS UNDER FIRE, then you may be confused: we looked at a lot of gunfights in Volume 1 – what’s different about this one?

Well, please remember that my 3 SECONDS series has two goals for you.

The first goal is the exchange of combat wisdom: where we seek to expose you to enough of the reality and stress and stimuli of a gunfight as we can, to educate your senses and expectations on how you and your attacker or attackers will and won’t react under the pressure of a violent attack.

But the second goal is perhaps even more important. You see, through the viewing of thousands of deadly force incidents, we’ve observed the same patterns play out again and again, and we’ve been able to order from most important to least important, all the factors that contribute toward whether you win or lose – survive or die – in your attempt to defend yourself. Each volume of 3 SECONDS FROM NOW will focus on one of these factors.

In Volume 1, our focus was on “DECISIONS UNDER FIRE”.

That’s because our analysis proves correct what military strategists have always known, going back to the ancient Chinese military mastermind, Sun Tsu: that most fights are won or lost before the engagement even begins.

Is deadly force justified? It is warranted and necessary? Do you have any other options that would guarantee your safety?

If deadly force is your only option, WHEN do you deploy? HOW do you deploy? How do you fight? Developing the ability to make the RIGHT choices for these difficult decisions under fire and making them INSTINCTIVELY and RAPIDLY was the primary focus of volume 1.

In this next volume, we focus on the second most important factor related to your success and survival in violent defensive combat: and that is, the INTENSITY with which you deploy yourself and your firearm in response to an attack.

While most people who carry concealed (and while even most educators and trainers) are completely oblivious to the existence of the observable phenomenon of INTENSITY in gunfights, those at the upper echelons of national training understand that deploying with the proper amount of INTENSITY is more important to your survival than your GUN… your caliber… your ammo capacity… your carry position… your draw speed and gun handling skills… and it’s even more important than your shooting accuracy.

Following the decision to use deadly force, INTENSITY is the most important strategy and tactic that you can learn to leverage.

There’s a very good chance that your attacker has been immersed in the world of violence for his entire life. It is his WAY of life. As a natural-born fighter who has learned to threaten and destroy, he is a master of INTENSITY.

For reasons that will soon be crystal clear to you (if you enter this program), if you can’t at least MATCH the INTENSITY that your attacker is bringing to the table… you are done. The attack will be over, and you will find yourself psychologically stunned or physically injured and disabled into submission.
You will see: 95% of fights that are won, are won on grounds of ‘who was the most intense’. Only 5% come down to “shoot ’em to the ground” gun fighting. This is cutting edge.

Therefore: Let us proceed into this second volume of 3 SECONDS FROM NOW. On top of the backdrop of real-world violence caught on tape, let us learn to understand and leverage this mysterious force of INTENSITY, so that you can explode with effective resistance if ever your life is put in the crosshairs.

INTENSITY. It is not *a* way of defending yourself… it is the only EFFECTIVE… and therefore the only PRUDENT way of learning to wield a handgun for effective self-defense.
What would the perfect concealed carry training tool look like?
A Personal Note to all ‘Graduates’ from The Armed American’s Complete Concealed Carry Guide to Effective Self-Defense
      From: Patrick Kilchermann
By now, through my Complete Guide and any other training you’ve received, I believe you are in the upper ranks of those who carry concealed, when it comes to your knowledge and your realistic understanding for your capabilities and limitations as an armed Guardian.

I founded the Concealed Carry University because of potentially dangerous errors I saw with much of concealed carry education, but I had no idea if there were other people out there like me… People who thirsted for truth, and who were wise enough to know they weren’t getting it from your average ‘gun blog’, YouTube channel, or gun magazine.

      Well, here you are!
I’m simply ecstatic to have a virtuous group of friends and peers to travel alongside in life (and devote my life to) here in this CCU Alumni. Thank you for that.
“CCU Alumni are as diverse as their careers and passions, but are united by one desire: to feel responsible, confident and effective while going armed.”
You are rare. Based on my surveying, Guardians are between 5% and 8% of the population. Some turn toward careers in the police, the military, or in other Guardian roles such as firefighting. But most of us are spread all over the map.

CCU alumni come in the form of machinists, accountants, elementary school teachers, Broadway performers, commercial airline pilots, Naval Admiralty, field front-liners and company commanders, CEOs, CFOs, entrepreneurs, and business owners – you name it.

If I may be direct: I want to build REAL warriors. Warriors who are beacons of virtue and pillars of strength to those around them. Warriors who are actually and efficiently capable of turning violence into peace by shutting down attacks…

…and in the blessed chance that they never need to use their skills, to help guide them and walk with them in their journeys so that the discipline of concealed carry makes them better people and improves their lives in every department.

Now I’m sure you wear many ‘hats’ in life (I am a Father and Husband before anything else), but I know that IF YOU’RE HERE, THEN warrior-hood (or being a true Guardian) is part of your calling… it IS a role that you were born to fulfill…. and I know that I can help you fill that role very well.

At this point, you’ve probably become pretty well educated with regards to concealed carry. I’ve had you “in” my studio for hours, and I’ve “taken you to the range."

If you’ve been listening to the Guardian Broadcast, you’re probably more intellectually advanced on this topic than anyone you know.
In other words, you’ve probably become quite combat knowledgeable. Your next step, then, is to obtain Combat Wisdom. Without requiring you to devote your life to the martial arts, and co-existing right alongside your primary roles in life….

I want to make you Combat Wise

…so that when the hairs begin standing up on your neck, your mouth becomes dry as a bone, and your heart dumps into 2nd gear, you have a second-nature understanding of:

      -  WHETHER to engage.
      -  When to engage.
      -  HOW to engage.
      -  How the situation is going to play out, even before you draw.
I want you to come to the highest quality decision as quickly as possible. And when engagement is necessary… when your pistol clears its holster and you’re bringing it up to eye-level, I want your expectations and actions to be loaded with certainty and confidence:

      -  How the attacker will react the moment you press off your first shot.
      -  How the bystanders around you will react, and how soon they’ll begin reacting.
      -  How YOU will react following that first shot.
      -  How to move.
      -  How to shoot.
      -  How to finish the fight based on your attacker’s reactions.
Knowing the answers to these questions – all of them – are key determining factors in whether or not you are successful in a self-defense engagement, especially if your attacker’s eyes are on you the moment it becomes necessary to begin moving your hand the 10,000 mile distance to your carry position.

“The more combat wisdom you can obtain, the more clear your mind and calm your body will be once (if) violence finds you.”
“We *need* the LESSONS from combat *BEFORE* we are forced to experience combat. Catch 22? Not anymore.”
“Victorious warriors win first, and then go to battle. Defeated warriors go to battle first, and then seek to win.” – Sun Tsu, Art of War
With combat wisdom, you will know. You will understand, and you will be more calm and in control.
Until now, there has been only one way to obtain combat wisdom: to be in and survive enough gunfights to learn them.
But this is the WORST POSSIBLE Way to Learn to Survive.

And yet…. many modern schools of thought within Concealed Carry Education tell us that until we are tested, we won’t know if we have what it takes to survive or not.

I hope this sounds as absurd to you as it does to me, but this attitude of “jump in head first and see if you make it” has been around for generations. In the second World War, pilots were given as much training as could be afforded, but at the end of it all the attitude was one of, “whether you can survive your first encounter or not is anyone’s guess. You either “have it” or you don’t… good luck!”

And statistically, with every engagement that a pilot survived, the greater his odds became of surviving the next one. Why? Because experience allowed these lucky pilots to learn the lessons that can only be taught within the context of REAL VIOLENCE.

They learned the lessons that have to be felt. The lessons that can’t exactly be put to words. They developed… COMBAT WISDOM.
The absurd fact of the matter that I refuse to accept for myself or my students, however, is that for many pilots, their first engagement was their last. (NOBODY wanted to fly on a bombing mission with a brand new B17 pilot, for example. Their bunkmates didn’t even want to learn their names until after the first mission! So great were the odds that they would die, and the pain of losing friends would only grow worse.)

They were sent in unprepared, in the same state in which many people carry concealed.

We have families and friends and roles in life that depend on us. We enjoy life too much, and to reduce a good life to the chew-toy of a wolf is a waste, and it is unjust.
“Without Combat Wisdom, our survival depends mostly on luck."

We should be unwilling to accept anything less than obtaining as much real combat wisdom in advance as we can. And taking you into the beating heart of REAL GUNFIGHTS and giving you this wisdom is my primary goal from this point forward – now that you’ve ‘graduated’ from The Armed American’s Complete Concealed Carry Guide to Effective Self-Defense.
I really, truly believed that putting you within a series of Force-on-Force scenarios was going to be the ‘secret sauce’. I first became certified in Simunition™ Safety and Scenario creation back in 2011, and now I’m one of the few private individuals to own a collection of Sim™ pistols, rifles, safety gear, and thousands of rounds of Sim™ ammo.

And make no mistake: Sim™ training is incredible.

But here’s one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned after spending a fortune on this equipment: gunfights (real or simulated) are simply too fast-paced to learn within! They kick off and then it’s over. You either already know what to do and you do it and win – or you don’t know what to do, and you lose.
“Pat gaining the initiative on an already-drawn gun, and putting 6 shots on target while gaining distance and without getting hit. Sim training is incredible, but I have discovered that it is NOT THE BEST WAY to gain COMBAT WISDOM…”
And so I’ve learned through experience that it is the down time between Sim™ gunfights, and (like ace pilots in WW2) the time I spend reviewing and analyzing other gunfights – it is these periods in which my skills improve. THIS is how I develop combat wisdom. It has to percolate following observation or experience.

And that leads me to an announcement possibly even more exciting than the release of my Complete Guide 3 years ago… The announcement of a brand new educational tool that I hope to see completely revolutionize the way we responsibly armed Guardians develop ourselves and keep ourselves sharp.
I believe I have come up with a solution to this problem: a method of obtaining a necessary degree of Combat Wisdom so that we have it with us when that day comes. A way for us to educate our senses and sharpen our decision-making abilities. A responsible and balanced way for us to become acquainted with violence and violent people, so that we’re not stunned into submission should we ever encounter them face to face – but instead, can react appropriately and justifiably.
This concept and educational tool that I’ve come up with is one that’s so simple, so rational, and so effective that I cannot believe it hasn’t existed for decades.

But: Now it does. And this is something I want every single one of my students and CCU Alumni to experience; bar none.

And once you expose yourself to this brand new tool, I believe you will agree with me: absolutely everyone who carries a concealed handgun for self-defense should receive this education and training.
      Introducing 3 SECONDS FROM NOW:
Since its launch in January of 2017, the 3 SECONDS FROM NOW series has been an instant hit. Adopted and appreciated by private citizens and professional warriors alike, it has helped to frame defensive violence within the right mindset for thousands of diligent students seeking to improve their understanding of and odds against facing motivated criminals.

And now, with the release and launch of The Fighting Principle of INTENSITY, the 3 SECONDS FROM NOW series aims to simplify and systemize the entire way that handgun-combat is taught in the United States.
